SIKJM is the national competence centre for children’s and young people’s literature and reading promotion in Switzerland. In close cooperation with the internal project team, Bonsma&Reist completely redesigned the digital presence. A colourful site with playful illustrations by It’s raining elephants shows the extensive activities of the institute and makes the content accessible in a clear and friendly way.

Small illustrations on the topic of reading are used throughout the site and complement the often very text-heavy content. The desired tones can be selected from a wide colour palette directly in the backend. The slightly rounded corners of the illustrations reference the classic children’s books made of cardboard.

The core-feature of the site is the review database, which contains over 3000 entries and has been completely redeveloped. Here, users can use various filters such as age recommendation, keywords and authors to discover suitable literature for children and young people.
