To mark the 60th anniversary of the Uldry printing house, we were invited to design a commemorative poster. At its center stands a large, sculptural “U” for “Uldry,” which, upon closer inspection, is composed of 60 finely graduated annual rings. Each line varies in thickness and alludes to formative events in the company’s history. The shape and movement of the letter are reminiscent of the stroke of a squeegee – the key tool in the screen printing process. The stark contrasts and the consistent focus on typography emphasize graphic rigor and precision. The design also serves as a tribute to Swiss poster art and the International Typographic Style, to which Uldry has made a significant contribution over the decades.
